Preparing the wounds treatments: an essential step

Treatment of epidermolysis bullosa children should be given in an environment as reassuring possible, ie; a warm and softly lit bathroom. Calm music and coloured mobiles can have a relaxing effect. The child must not be treated on an empty stomach: calm him with a dummy or a little sweetened water. It might be necessary to give a painkiller 30 minutes prior to treatment.

Everything should prepared before undressing the child: sort out the necessary equipment and put a soft towel on the bottom of the bath.

Run a bath at a temperature of 37° and put a little antiseptic bath soak in the water. Make sure there are enough towels, compresses and bandages ready. It is necessary to wear a sterile tabard and gloves in order to avoid infecting the wounds.
