| Wounds can be treated by a nurse or by the parents themselves. Treatment should always be given with reference to the same general guidelines, however it can be adapted to different children depending on the character of the wounds, pain experienced etc. |
Once the diagnosis is confirmed, medical personnel will assist the parents in the treatment to be provided. Families are properly instructed before being allowed home with a newborn with EB. Once they are familiar with the nature of the pathology, parents can choose to perform the treatment themselves or to have nurses come to the home who may not be familiar with the pathology.
